Best Oxidization Remover For RV: Reviews

1. Meguiar's Marine/RV Heavy Duty Oxidation Remover

If your RV is oxidized, or in other words, has rust on it, then you might want to check out Meguiar's Marine/RV Heavy Duty Oxidation Remover. It comes in at a more than affordable price, can remove lots of rust, and is quite easy to use as well.

Review

Meguiar's Marine/RV Heavy Duty Oxidation Remover is designed to remove light to moderate stains, water spots, scratches, and oxidization from gel coats, fiberglass, and high tech painted surfaces.

In other words, it can be used to remove rust from your RV, as long as that rust is not directly on metal itself.

Also, keep in mind that rust and oxidization is a tough thing to deal with, and although Meguiar's Marine/RV Heavy Duty Oxidation Remover is one of the best options out there, it won’t be able to remove really heavy coats of rust, especially when the rust has actually started to eat its way through the materials.

With that being said, this is a good option to go with, because it can be easily applied. Simply use a cloth, soak it with this product, and then get scrubbing.

It should remove most moderate oxidization, while at the same time making paint jobs and other surfaces shine and really come back to life. It is also designed to break down abrasives and to remove debris at the same time, thus also creating a new, shiny, and polished look.

What is also nice is that Meguiar's Marine/RV Heavy Duty Oxidation Remover can be used by machine or by hand. It is safe to use and will not hurt your skin.

Pros

  • Works well for moderate rusting
  • Best for painted surfaces
  • Helps get rid of rust, debris, and creates a shine
  • Safe to use by hand

Cons

  • Cannot deal with heavy or advanced rusting

2. Meguiar's M77132 Heavy Oxidation Scrub

If you RV is rusty and needs some serious work, Meguiar's M77132 Heavy Oxidation Scrub is a great option to go with. The first option, from the same brand, was for light and moderate oxidization, whereas this product is meant for heavy and advanced rusting that is quite severe.

Review

Something that we do feel is quite important to mention is that Meguiar's M77132 Heavy Oxidation Scrub is totally biodegradable. While it is meant for heavy rusting and oxidization, it is eco-friendly and will not hurt the world around you, which we feel is a pretty big deal, especially with the current state which our planet is in.

Like we mentioned before, this product is designed to deal with really heavy rusting, mold, and stains. Yes, that is right, mold will not be able to stand up to this product either.

Do keep in mind that Meguiar's M77132 Heavy Oxidation Scrub is meant for gel surfaces, painted surfaces, and fiberglass, which should be more than fine for most RVs. However, remember that this stuff will not really work on metal, as that is a whole different story.

All you need to do here is to apply a light coat of Meguiar's M77132 Heavy Oxidation Scrub, and then use a scrubbing brush to remove rust, oxidization, stains, and mold.

It is easy to use, but keep in mind that you will have to scrub quite hard! It is water soluble, so after you have scrubbed, you can simply use a hose to wash it back off, along with the rust.

Pros

  • Works for heavy duty rusting
  • Water soluble and eco friendly
  • Easy to wash off
  • Works on painted, gel, and fiberglass surfaces

Cons

  • Does not really work for metal
  • Takes some muscle power for it to work well

3. Premium RV Wax Color Restorer and Oxidation Remover

This is personally one of our very favorite options to go with. Now, it is fairly expensive and pricier than both of the other options we have looked at so far.

However, with that being said, it does also seem to work the best. As well, it works on a vast variety of surfaces that suffer from extreme oxidization.

Review

What is really nice about Premium RV Wax Color Restorer and Oxidation Remover is that it can be used on chrome, stainless steel, painted metal, and fiberglass.

The fact that this product works on metal is a big deal, because so far, the other options on this list have not been able to remove oxidization from metal. This is indeed a big deal, because rust does often occur on metal.

Premium RV Wax Color Restorer and Oxidation Remover is able to remove some pretty heavy loads of rust, which is also nice.

Even better is that Premium RV Wax Color Restorer and Oxidation Remover is very easy to use. You can use it with a simple cloth, but in all reality, it is best used with an actual buffer machine.

However, with that being said, it does work very well for its intended purpose. It is a high quality solution that can remove a lot of oxidization from surfaces, and therefore restore colors in the process.

What is also nice here is that this product will not harm decals or paint, which is another big bonus.

Pros

  • Works for metal and fiberglass
  • Very effective at removing rust
  • Helps to restore colors
  • Will not harm paint or decals

Cons

  • Best used with a buffer
  • Might take a couple of applications

4. CorrosionX 61002 Rejex

If you need something to help remove oxidization and to give your RV a new look, CorrosionX 61002 Rejex is one of the best ways to go. Now, keep in mind that this product is primarily meant for use with boats and marine environments.

However, this is actually a good thing, because its level of corrosion resistance and waterproofing is off the charts.

Review

CorrosionX 61002 Rejex is in our opinion one of the best options to go with. This is mainly because this wax, anti-rusting, and shining solution is designed to be used with boats.

This means that it is highly resistant to water and washing off, to the point where it is virtually 100% waterproof. At the same time, it is also specially designed to stop rusting from occurring in the first place.

This is a very long lasting formula, one that only needs to be applied every now and again. It can resist extreme temperatures, weather, rain, salt, and so much more.

Of course, CorrosionX 61002 Rejex is also designed to remove some rust. However, this is not the best rust or oxidization remover in the world.

It will work for light and moderate oxidization, but even for this, it might take a couple of applications. CorrosionX 61002 Rejex is better used as a preventative measure, rather than a rust treatment.

However, it does a great job at restoring colors and creating a bright shine. It is also resistant to acids, bird droppings, and helps protect your RV against UV damage as well.

Pros

  • Great for all kinds of surfaces
  • Waterproof and corrosion resistant
  • Protects against acids, grease, and UV
  • Long lasting formula

Cons

  • Better for rust prevention than treatment
  • Might take a few applications for best results

5. 3M Marine Restorer and Wax

If you need something to remove heavy oxidization from fiberglass, to restore colors, and to provide a glossy shine, 3M Marine Restorer and Wax might just be the best way to go.

Keep in mind that this product is also designed for marine use, such as for boats, but can also be used for RVs.

Review

3M Marine Restorer and Wax is excellent for removing oxidization, even really heavy and thick rust that nothing else will be able to remove. Yes, it is a great option to go with, plus it is super-fast acting, and you don’t need much of it either.

A little bit of 3M Marine Restorer and Wax will go a very long way, and it is best used with a buffer, at least if you want to make life easier.

Now, the downside here is that this product is meant only for fiberglass, and not metals, plastics, or painted surfaces.

While it might remove oxidization from surfaces other than fiberglass, it might also harm them. With that being said, it does a great job at its intended purpose, plus it helps to restore a glossy and shiny look.

Pros

  • Very fast acting
  • Only takes a little bit
  • Can remove very heavy oxidization
  • Restores glossiness and shine

Cons

  • Only for fiberglass

Conclusion

Making an exact recommendation here is a bit difficult, as it does really depend on what you need. As you can tell from the reviews, some of these products are best for painted surfaces, some for fiberglass, and some for metals.

So, which product you choose is going to depend on what kind of surface you are working with.
